June 2015 COTM, Mike S' 20th AE GTI

Your Name: Mike Suranyi aka DucMike

Car's Name: Blue

Model/Year: 2003 20th Anniversary GTI

How long have you had your car? Bought it in 2006

Is there anything unique about the history of this car? Bought it from a Nissan dealer that had no idea what it really was. It was just a low mile (14200!) GTI to them.

Why did you choose to purchase this car? See above…

Does anything in particular influence the direction you take when modifying your car? I’ve been on a bit of an OEM+ kick when it came to this build. If it wasn’t factory or factory-themed, I didn’t want to do it. That’s changing to some extent though I’m hesitant to take that first step.

What would you do to the car if money were no object? There really isn’t much I could think of, short of a complete strip-down & respray/full resto of it.

Who has been your biggest critic of this project? I really haven’t had any critics that I can think of. Everyone seems to appreciate & love it for what it is; a wonderful testament to what the original GTI was.

Personal Message or Special Thanks: Jeff Patton for telling me about it in the first place.

Thank you. You're not the only one that loves it. I have quite a few things I still need to fix and do but then again; are they ever really "done"?
